Toast goes big at “BostInno 50 on Fire 2016”

Dec 08, 2016

Toast customers Barismo, Flour and Porto/Trade/Saloniki have been named winners alongside our very own Ellie Mirman, VP of Marketing

It has been a big year for Toast and our customers, and with only a few weeks left in 2016, we aren’t slowing down. Customers Barismo; Joanne Chang of Flour; and Jody Adams, Sean Griffing, Jon Mendez and Eric Papachristos of Porto, Trade and Saloniki were all named to the prestigious “Bostinno 50 on Fire 2016” list. Each year, BostInno recognizes 50 of Boston’s most impressive “inventors, disrupters, luminaries and newsmakers” in its awards ceremony.

We’re proud any time we can help a restaurant build a better business and in turn, empower them to offer the very best customer experience for their guests. The 50 on Fire announcement, however, is an especially proud moment for Toast: we are honored to work with the some of the most innovative restaurateurs in Boston. We look forward to continuing this vision in 2017, with our marketing team placing a focus on fostering and highlighting our customers’ successes. Lucky for us, our VP of Marketing Ellie Mirman, was also named as one of BostInno’s 50 on Fire in the Marketing & Advertising category.

Here’s a little more on why these Toasters have been honored among the hottest movers and shakers in the city of Boston:

  • Barismo: “With multiple locations in Cambridge, including its newest in Kendall Square, Barismo has made a name for itself in an increasingly competitive coffee market. They've had cold brew for years, for example, and are now working on a proprietary technique for making a better cup of hot coffee they're calling hot draft.” – BostInno

  • Joanne Chang of Flour Bakery + Cafe: “Chang is the talent and dedication behind beloved local eatery Flour Bakery + Cafe, which is in the midst of a multi-location expansion throughout the Greater Boston area. (Its Harvard Square spot just opened Nov. 1.) A pastry chef in Boston since the early 90s, Chang also, at long last, won a James Beard for Outstanding Baker and Best Chef: Northeast, this past May.” – BostInno

  • Jody Adams, Sean Griffing, Jon Mendez and Eric Papachristos of Porto, Trade and Saloniki: “Jody Adams made headlines in May when she announced she'd be leaving Rialto, the Harvard Square restaurant she cofounded 20 years prior, to open a new Mediterranean concept in Back Bay called Porto. She's now there with her partners from Trade, Papachristos and Griffing. What's more, Adams, a James Beard Award winner in her own right, has also taken her first foray into fast casual with Mendez, called Saloniki.” – BostInno

  • Ellie Mirman of Toast POS: Ellie has been our VP of Marketing since 2014. Ellie most recently helped lead efforts to raise the January 2016 $30 million round of funding and bring on customers in nearly all 50 states.

With the holidays only a few weeks away, we can’t think of a better present than the gift of happy customers being acknowledged in a big way for their great work. But, if there’s a chef or foodie in your life who hasn’t been named one of the best in the biz just yet, here’s a fun list of gifts she or he might enjoy.
